Job Description

A private family in Glen Rock, NJ looking for a live-out nanny and family assistant to join our team. Mom works full-time from home in a demanding role with occasional travel. Dad owns and operates several businesses from home. We're organized, communicative, and low-drama. We're straightforward people and we expect the same in return. If we're a good fit for each other, this isn't a one year thing, it's a real, lasting relationship.

We have a friendly 25 lb mini golden doodle who is mostly handled by mom and dad, though the occasional help is appreciated.

The Kids

Our daughter is 2.5 years old fun, easy-going, a great eater, and a solid sleeper. She's in the thick of exploring everything, loves being outside, and is a joy to be around.

We're expecting twins in late 2026. We're sharing this upfront because we want someone who's excited about growing with our family, not surprised by it. We anticipate needing additional help during the initial months as everyone adjusts to going from one child to three, and compensation will be revisited when responsibilities expand.

Schedule

  • Full-time, Mon-Fri, approximately 45 hours per week.
  • Schedule flexes by season, summer looks different from the school year (half-day Montessori, 5 days/week in the fall).
  • Mix of scheduled activities and spontaneous adventures. Every day is a little different.
  • We have an organized nanny group that plans weekly activities and playdates.
  • Start date: end of June 2026.

What You'll Do - Childcare

  • Be the go-to person for our daughter throughout the day. Her safety, happiness, and development are the priority.
  • Prepare meals and snacks (lunch daily, snacks, and occasional dinner prep).
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate learning, creative play, and exploration activities.
  • Get outside daily when weather permits, parks, walks, backyard time.
  • Manage naps, transitions, and the general rhythm of her day.
  • Drive to and from activities, playdates, and errands (family car provided).

What You'll Do - Household & Family Assistant

  • Household laundry (wash, fold, put away).
  • General tidying and organization between professional housekeeping visits.
  • Dishes and kitchen reset throughout the day.
  • Take out trash and recycling.
  • Run errands: grocery pickups, returns, miscellaneous to-dos.
  • Make in-person or online purchases for the family as needed.
  • Other tasks as requested.

Requirements

  • Extensive full-time experience with toddlers and young children.
  • Three verifiable childcare references.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, we value transparency and proactive updates throughout the day.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently.
  • Up-to-date CPR certification.
  • Willing to submit to a criminal background check.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for commuting (family car provided for all work-related driving).
  • Willing to travel with the family as needed.
  • Bonus: Experience with multiples, infant care, or supporting families through a newborn transition.

Benefits

  • Pay: $20-$30/hour, commensurate with experience (~45 hours/week).
  • Guaranteed hours: You're paid your full weekly hours even when the family doesn't need coverage.
  • Paid vacation: 2 weeks per year.
  • Sick / personal days: 5 paid days per year.
  • Paid holidays: 10 federal holidays.
  • Family vehicle: Provided for all work-related driving.
  • Compensation review: Pay and structure will be revisited when twins arrive and responsibilities expand.
