Overview
Brunel is hiring a Planner / Scheduler to support major capital projects for a global mining client.
This role is responsible for managing project schedules, tracking progress, identifying risks, and supporting overall project delivery. You will work closely with project management and lead planning activities across engineering and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and manage project schedules for complex engineering and construction projects
• Integrate multiple project schedules into one master schedule
• Track progress, forecast timelines, and report on project performance
• Identify schedule delays, risks, and potential impacts, and recommend solutions
• Support change management processes and ensure proper documentation
• Analyze critical path and constraints, suggesting mitigation strategies
• Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and contracts teams
• Lead and mentor planning team members and support team performance
• Participate in project meetings and present updates to stakeholders
• Ensure all planning activities follow company standards and procedures
Role Scope
• Leads planning activities on complex projects
• Works with minimal supervision and sets priorities independently
• Manages and supports a team of planners/schedulers
• Contributes to decision-making and problem-solving across the project
• Has some budget responsibility
Requirements
Option 1:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or similar
• 10+ years of experience in construction/project controls
• 6+ years in a leadership role
OR
Option 2:
• High school diploma or GED
• 15+ years of experience in engineering, construction, or project controls
• 6+ years in a leadership role
Skills & Experience
• Strong experience in project planning and scheduling
• Knowledge of heavy industrial or mining construction projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools
• Ability to manage risks, analyze data, and communicate effectively
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Good understanding of safety practices and site environments
Preferred Experience
• Mining or heavy industrial construction projects
• Large-scale (mega) project experience
• Cost estimating and project controls background
