Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, Operations Director, and Operations Manager, the Toll Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operations, preparation, and execution of assigned daily tasks, including the management of subordinate tasks. Perform quality customer services to those crossing into The Donna International Bridge via Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, while accurately collecting toll crossing fees. Assist in decision-making or answer questions pertaining to complex transactions and traffic control.

  • Facilitate the training and development of toll collectors to ensure the delivery of exemplary service to bridge customers, enhancing their overall experience and satisfaction
  • Exhibit courtesy and patience when engaging with both customers and employees.
  • Prepare and submit essential departmental reports, ensuring their accuracy and clarity, on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule basis to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Mexican currency.
  • The supervisor will be responsible for carrying out all duties of a toll collector and providing support for toll operations tasks.
  • Supervisor is responsible for financial handling, encompassing responsibilities such as cash management, transaction processing, and reconciling cash drawers.
  • Ensure the precise classification of vehicles and the accurate collection of toll amounts from commercial vehicles, motorists, and pedestrians.
  • Evaluates crossing counts in relation to transaction data.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of the daily toll collections report, comment sheet, hourly counts, and daily reports.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods. Competence in performing both strenuous and routine tasks effectively.
  • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.
  • Ensure continuous communication with the directors or manager regarding overall bridge operations, personnel matters, and any issues that may arise.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries and manage them in a manner that is appropriate and professional.
  • Perform general clerical duties, including but not limited to corresponding to emails, faxing, photocopying, and filing.
  • Will perform other related duties as needed required.
  • Demonstrate punctuality for scheduled shifts, breaks, and lunches, as well as maintain availability for days, nights, weekends, holidays, city events, and on-call rotation essential shifts.

Applicants for employment at the City of Donna International Bridge must agree to undergo a criminal background check, maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, and pass a drug screening as conditions of employment.

Education/Skills Required

The position requires a high school diploma. Additionally, college credit hours in Business, Accounting, or related fields are preferred. Knowledgeable in using computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Candidates are expected to possess a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in supervisory roles and in financial handling, encompassing responsibilities such as cash management, transaction processing, and reconciling cash drawers.

  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

The position requires working on a rotating shift schedule, with varying hours, including weekends, city events, holidays, and on-call rotation for essential shifts. There will be exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions. Standing and/or walking for extended periods on uneven surfaces. Work duties include standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, carrying, and walking. Additionally, employees are expected to fulfill other duties and tasks needed to support departmental operations, contributing to a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
